BATEREC = BATE (Battery) + REC (Recycling)
Creating a municipal system of separate collection and recycling of used batteries and accumulators, in order to promote of the protection and improvement of environmental quality and public health, as well as to implement the tasks envisaged by of the management strategies of rational use of waste in the Republic of Moldova in 2013 - 2017 years.
Necessity of recycling of batteries is increasing so as more and more batteries appears on among the waste on landfill sites, and it is not important, they are new or used, the batteries contain metallic elements of high molecular weight, which become dangerous waste during combustion, they are corrosive, they are susceptible to reactivation, are toxic. Therefore, they need proper handling and storage conditions, as they become hazardous to health and harmful effects on the environment.
Statistics show that each year there are thrown away about 800,000 tons car batteries and 160,000 tons of conventional portable batteries.
